š® New ways to collaborate and get creative with Gemini

Geminiās New Features: Canvas & Audio Overview
Gemini introduces Canvas, an interactive space for refining documents and code in real-time, allowing seamless collaboration and quick edits. Whether drafting reports or coding prototypes, Canvas streamlines the process.
Also launching is Audio Overview, which transforms files into engaging, podcast-style discussions, helping users absorb complex information on the go.
Both features are rolling out globally for Gemini and Gemini Advanced subscribers. Try them today at gemini.google.com.
š¹People are using Googleās new AI model to remove
watermarks from images

Users have discovered that Googleās Gemini 2.0 Flash can remove watermarks from images, including stock photos from Getty Images. The AI model, recently expanded for image generation, not only erases watermarks but also fills in the gaps left behind.
While the feature is labeled āexperimentalā and restricted to developer tools like AI Studio, concerns are rising about its lack of restrictions compared to models like OpenAIās GPT-4o, which refuse such actions. Removing watermarks without permission is illegal under U.S. copyright law, prompting questions about Googleās enforcement of its terms of service.
Google responded, stating that copyright infringement violates its terms, and they are monitoring developer feedback.
š®Elon Muskās AI company, xAI, acquires a generative AI
video startup

Elon Muskās xAI has acquired Hotshot, a San Francisco-based startup specializing in AI-powered video generation, similar to OpenAIās Sora.
Hotshotās CEO, Aakash Sastry, announced the acquisition, highlighting the companyās development of three video foundation models and its plans to scale using xAIās Colossus supercomputer.
The move suggests xAI is entering the AI video space, potentially competing with OpenAI and Googleās Veo 2. Musk has previously hinted at a "Grok Video" model, expected in the coming months. Read more.
š¤OpenAI to start testing ChatGPT connectors for
Google Drive and Slack
OpenAI is launching ChatGPT Connectors, a beta feature allowing ChatGPT Team users to integrate Google Drive and Slack, enabling the AI to answer queries based on internal company files, spreadsheets, and conversations.
Future integrations will include Microsoft SharePoint and Box. OpenAI assures that permissions are respected, ensuring employees can only access data theyāre authorized to view.
This move positions ChatGPT as a powerful AI-powered enterprise search tool, competing with platforms like Glean. While OpenAI wonāt train on user data, synced files may inform synthetic data generation.
New filings reveal Google has invested over $3 billion in Anthropic, including a $750 million convertible debt deal this year, giving it a 14% stake. While Google holds no voting rights or board seats, its deep financial backing raises questions about Anthropicās independence. With Amazon also investing up to $8 billion, AI startups are increasingly tied to tech giants. Are they truly independent, or just extensions of Big Tech? Know more here.
š®Pruna AI open sources its AI model optimization framework

Pruna AI, a European startup specializing in AI model compression, is making its optimization framework open source. The tool streamlines pruning, quantization, and distillation, improving model efficiency without major quality loss.
Already used by companies like Scenario and PhotoRoom, Pruna AI also offers a pro version with an automated compression agent. The startup recently raised $6.5M in seed funding to expand its AI efficiency solutions.
