š¹OpenAI brings its o1 reasoning model to its API ā for certain developers
OpenAI is rolling out its advanced "reasoning" AI model, o1, to select developers via its API, alongside several other updates.
Key Highlights:
o1 API Access: Available to "tier 5" developers (spending $1,000+ with OpenAI and with accounts older than 30 days). Replaces o1-preview and offers improved accuracy and customization features like function calling and "reasoning_effort" controls.
Pricing: o1 is costly at $15 per ~750,000 words analyzed and $60 per ~750,000 words generated, reflecting its high computational needs.
Realtime API Updates: New GPT-4o models introduced for low-latency voice apps, with improved efficiency and WebRTC integration for seamless, real-world audio interactions.
New Developer Tools: Preference fine-tuning added to the fine-tuning API, and beta software developer kits released for Go and Java.
OpenAI plans to expand o1 access incrementally while continuing to refine and improve its AI offerings.

Mobile Enhancements: Search results now resemble traditional search engines, featuring lists with images, ratings, and maps.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri warns users to be cautious about trusting online images due to AI's ability to create realistic but misleading content. He emphasizes the need for platforms to label AI-generated content and provide context about who is sharing it to help users assess credibility. While Meta's platforms currently lack these tools, Mosseri's comments suggest potential updates to content moderation, possibly inspired by features like Community Notes on X or Bluesky's filters.
