Why Your Best Employees Are Hiding Their AI Innovation - Part 1
In this episode, Ryan Staley discusses the silent AI revolution, highlighting how many employees are secretly leveraging AI to enhance their productivity without their organization's knowledge. He explores the concept of the shadow AI economy, where a significant percentage of employees use personal AI tools due to lack of training or restrictions from their employers.
š® Introducing ChatGPT Pro
OpenAI introduces ChatGPT Pro, a $200/month plan designed for researchers, engineers, and advanced users who need research-grade intelligence and enhanced productivity. This plan offers unlimited access to OpenAI's top models, including o1, o1-mini, GPT-4o, and the premium o1 pro mode. š® ChatGPT now has over 300 million weekly users
ChatGPT has surpassed 300 million weekly active users, a significant milestone revealed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman during The New York Timesā DealBook Summit. This marks rapid growth, as the AI chatbot reached 200 million weekly users in August. Altman also noted that users send over 1 billion messages daily through the platform.

š¤Google Geminiās Imagen 3 lets players
design their own chess pieces
Google Labs has launched GenChess, a web-based chess experiment powered by its Gemini Imagen 3 image-generation model. The game allows users to customize their chess pieces using text prompts, creating unique themes like sushi or pizza-inspired sets. Players can refine individual pieces and choose between classic (traditional) and creative (abstract) styles.
To play, users must sign in with a Gmail account, generate their set, and select an AI opponent with themed pieces and difficulty levels. The experiment highlights the collaboration between AI, design, and chess, offering an engaging twist on the classic game.
As part of the World Chess Championship kickoff, Google also announced:
A partnership with FIDE for a Kaggle coding challenge to create AI chess engines.
Chess Gem, launching next month for Gemini Advanced subscribers, enabling users to play chess against a language model with interactive banter.
These initiatives showcase Googleās focus on blending AI with creative and educational experiences.
š®Ads might be coming to ChatGPT ā despite Sam Altman not being a fan
OpenAI is considering incorporating ads into its business model, according to the Financial Times. CFO Sarah Friar confirmed the company is exploring the idea but emphasized there are "no active plans to pursue advertising" at this time. The speculation follows the hiring of Shivakumar Venkataraman, a former Google ad executive.
Currently, OpenAI relies on subscriptions to fund its expensive generative AI tools. However, rising costs may push the company to explore alternative revenue streams. Founder Sam Altman expressed reluctance, calling ads a "last resort" during a recent talk, citing discomfort with the combination of ads and AI as "uniquely unsettling."
