😮 ChatGPT conversations are showing up in
Google Search

Google is indexing shared ChatGPT conversations, including those containing sensitive topics like mental health, addiction, and abuse. These chats become publicly searchable when users share conversation links, often unaware that the content could appear in Google results. While identities aren’t explicitly shown, personal details may still reveal them. Nearly 4,500 chats are already indexed, raising major privacy concerns.

❇️Microsoft is getting ready for GPT-5
with a new Copilot smart mode

Microsoft is internally testing a new smart mode for its Copilot AI, ahead of OpenAI’s upcoming GPT-5 release expected in early August. This smart mode is designed to intelligently choose the best model for each task—removing the need for users to manually select between models.

In the consumer version, smart mode allows Copilot to “think deeply or quickly” based on context, while the commercial Microsoft 365 Copilot version uses “the most relevant model” to improve results. Although GPT-5 is not yet explicitly mentioned in Copilot’s responses (still showing GPT-4), the new UI hints at future integration.

This aligns with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s vision of a “magic unified intelligence” without model pickers, using the upcoming o3 model within GPT-5. Microsoft’s internal "magic mode" appears to reflect this direction.

⚡ChatGPT Study Mode:
A new way to learn in ChatGPT that offers step by step guidance instead of quick answers

OpenAI has launched Study Mode in ChatGPT to help students learn through step-by-step guidance rather than quick answers.

Key Highlights:

  • Guided Learning: Uses interactive prompts, hints, and questions to promote critical thinking and deeper understanding.

  • Custom Design: Built with input from educators and learning experts to support active participation and metacognition.

  • Scaffolded Responses: Breaks down complex topics into manageable sections with just the right context.

  • Personalized Support: Adapts to the student’s skill level using memory from previous chats.

  • Knowledge Checks: Includes quizzes and feedback to support retention and application.

  • Flexible Use: Can be toggled on/off during any conversation for tailored learning sessions.

  • Still Evolving: Future updates aim to add visualizations, progress tracking, and deeper personalization.

  • Real-World Use: Described by students as a “24/7 tutor” that helps break down tough subjects like Game Theory and math.

💫Microsoft Edge is now an AI browser with launch of ‘Copilot Mode’

Microsoft has introduced Copilot Mode in its Edge browser — an AI assistant that helps users research, navigate, and act on web content directly within the browser.

  • Integrated AI Assistance: Users can search, chat, and browse with Copilot's help in a unified interface.

  • Contextual Help on Webpages: Ask questions like how to make a recipe vegan without copying/pasting content — Copilot reads the page and responds.

  • Task Automation: Draft content, create shopping lists, or book appointments with AI assistance.

  • Voice Input: Supports hands-free use, helpful for accessibility and less tech-savvy users.

  • Research Companion: With permission, Copilot can view all open tabs to assist with comparisons or ongoing research.

  • Session Recall (Coming Soon): Will suggest next steps based on previous activity.

Limitations & Concerns:

  • Still experimental and opt-in only during testing.

  • Effectiveness in real-world usage is yet to be proven.

  • Privacy concerns exist, as Copilot can access browsing data if allowed, raising transparency and trust issues.

Copilot Mode represents Microsoft’s next step in making AI a proactive “agent” in web use, potentially transforming how people interact with the internet.

👏 Anthropic unveils new rate limits to curb Claude Code power users

Anthropic is introducing new weekly rate limits for its Claude AI tool, starting August 28, to curb excessive usage and policy violations like account sharing and reselling. These limits affect Pro and Max plan subscribers and aim to ease strain caused by users running Claude Code non-stop. While most users won't notice a change, high-volume users may be impacted. The move follows multiple outages and reflects ongoing challenges in scaling AI services amid rising demand.
