😮 Quora’s Poe now lets users create and share custom
AI-powered apps

Quora’s Poe platform has introduced Poe Apps, a new feature allowing users to create AI-powered web apps with visual interfaces. Powered by Claude 3.7 Sonnet, the App Creator tool translates user descriptions into code, integrating models like OpenAI’s GPT-4o, Google’s Veo 2, and Bria’s Eraser for various AI-driven functions.

Users can modify the generated code and share apps on the web (mobile support coming soon). Each app usage deducts points from a user’s Poe balance, with premium subscribers getting more flexibility. Quora hints at future monetization options and ongoing improvements to enhance Poe Apps’ capabilities.

🔹Google Gemini’s AI coding tool is now free for individual users

Google has launched a free version of Gemini Code Assist, its AI-powered coding tool, for individual developers worldwide. Unlike GitHub Copilot’s free tier, which offers 2,000 code completions per month, Google’s free tier provides up to 180,000 completions, making it significantly more generous.

Powered by Gemini 2.0, the tool can generate, complete, and debug code in 38 programming languages and integrates with VS Code, GitHub, and JetBrains. Developers can use natural language prompts for coding assistance. While the free version is robust, features like Google Cloud integrations and private code customization remain exclusive to paid business tiers. Read more here.

😮Perplexity Announces AI-Powered Web Browser Comet

Perplexity AI is developing its own web browser, Comet, aiming to "reinvent" browsing as it did with AI-powered search. The company, which serves over 100 million weekly queries, announced a waitlist for early access.

Perplexity has rapidly grown, securing $500 million in funding in December, raising its valuation to $9 billion, with backing from SoftBank, Nvidia, and Jeff Bezos. It also introduced AI-driven shopping tools like Buy With Pro (enabling in-app purchases) and Snap to Shop (visual search for products).

Despite AI search competition, Google’s daily search traffic remains stable, with 2.7 billion daily visits in January, while ChatGPT's traffic surged 148% YoY to 128 million monthly visits. Read the full article to learn more!

🤖Anthropic launches a new AI model that ‘thinks’ as
long as you want

Anthropic has launched Claude 3.7 Sonnet, its first hybrid AI model, offering both real-time and in-depth reasoning. It outperforms competitors in coding accuracy (62.3%) and AI-user interaction (81.2%), while reducing unnecessary refusals by 45%.

Alongside this, Claude Code, a new AI coding tool, lets developers modify and test projects using natural language commands. Limited early access is available.

😮Google’s new AI video model Veo 2 will cost 50 cents per second

Google’s AI video model Veo 2 is priced at 50 cents per second, equating to $30 per minute or $1,800 per hour. While expensive, it’s a fraction of Hollywood production costs—"Avengers: Endgame" cost $32,000 per second to produce.

Veo 2 can generate clips two minutes or longer, but users may not utilize every second they pay for. In comparison, OpenAI’s Sora is available via a $200/month ChatGPT Pro subscription. Read here.
