😮 Meta launches a stand-alone AI app to
compete with ChatGPT

  • New App Experience: Meta has launched the first version of the Meta AI app, designed for personalized, voice-based interactions. It includes a Discover feed and integrates with Ray-Ban Meta glasses and meta.ai for continuity.

  • Powered by Llama 4: Built with the Llama 4 model, the assistant offers improved, natural voice conversations, supports image generation/editing, and remembers personal preferences/context.

  • Voice Demo & Features: Includes a full-duplex speech demo for more natural interactions (currently in US, Canada, Australia, NZ). The app also supports multitasking and clear mic usage indicators.

  • Web and Desktop Integration: Meta AI is now enhanced for web/desktop use with better image generation tools, document creation/export features, and document analysis (in testing).

  • Personalization: Meta AI can tailor responses using user data from Facebook, Instagram, and more (opt-in), with control over shared content.

  • Ray-Ban Meta Glasses Integration: The app merges with Meta View to support AI glasses, enabling seamless switching between devices and app/web.

  • Availability: The Meta AI app is available for iOS and Android users starting now.

Google is testing three new AI-powered language learning tools using its Gemini model, aiming to offer a more personalized and contextual alternative to apps like Duolingo.

1. Tiny Lesson: Offers situation-based vocabulary and grammar tips. Example: Describe ā€œfinding a lost passportā€ and get relevant phrases like ā€œI want to report it to the police.ā€

2. Slang Hang: Teaches local slang and conversational language through simulated dialogues. You can hover over unfamiliar terms to learn their meaning and usage.

3. Word Cam: Uses your phone’s camera to identify and label objects in your environment in the target language, expanding your vocabulary with real-world context.

Languages Supported: Includes Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish.

Access: Available via Google Labs. Note: Early-stage tools may misuse slang or invent terms, so cross-checking is advised.—Read more here.

⚔Pinterest is finally doing something about its
AI infestation

Pinterest is adding ā€œAI modifiedā€ labels to images created or edited with generative AI and will soon let users filter out some of this content. The goal is to reduce misleading AI images—especially in categories like beauty and art—and help users find more authentic, real-world inspiration. — Read more.

growing AI family

Adobe launched two new Firefly AI models: a fast version and a high-detail ā€œUltraā€ model, both offering better realism and control. New tools include Firefly Boards for moodboarding, access to third-party AI models, and AI-powered updates to Photoshop and Illustrator for smarter edits and design features. Know more here.

😮Google’s AI Mode gets expanded access and additional functionality

Google is expanding its AI Mode in Search, removing the waitlist and making it available to all U.S. users 18+ enrolled in Labs, with limited testing outside Labs as well. AI Mode now supports multi-part questions, follow-ups, and lets users resume previous searches. New features include visual cards for places and products, showing real-time info like prices, reviews, and local availability—helpful for planning trips or shopping. A sidebar on desktop helps users revisit and continue past searches. Read here.
