OpenAI has begun rolling out the alpha version of ChatGPT's Advanced Voice Mode to a select group of ChatGPT Plus users. This mode, distinct from the current Voice Mode, uses the multimodal GPT-4o, which processes tasks without auxiliary models, resulting in significantly lower latency and the ability to sense emotional intonations in users' voices.
Legal and Safety Concerns: The voice featured in the initial demo resembled Scarlett Johansson's, leading her to seek legal counsel. OpenAI has denied using her voice and subsequently removed it. To ensure safety, OpenAI delayed the release of Advanced Voice Mode for additional testing and plans to release a report on their safety measures in early August.

Enhanced Content and Accuracy: Gemini introduces related content links in responses to reduce hallucinations, and a double-check feature using Google Search to verify information accuracy.
Expanded Accessibility: Gemini is now available in more countries, languages, and for teens globally, with specific features to ensure safe and responsible AI usage for younger users.
Canva Acquires Leonardo.ai: Canva has acquired generative AI content and research startup Leonardo.ai, with the deal involving a mix of cash and stock. Leonardo.ai's 120 employees, including the executive team, will join Canva.
Independent Operation and Innovation Focus: Leonardo.ai will continue to operate independently, focusing on rapid innovation and R&D, supported by Canva’s resources. The acquisition aims to enhance Leonardo.ai's platform, expand their API business, and invest in foundational model R&D.

Meta is rolling out its AI Studio to all U.S. creators, enabling them to create personalized AI-powered chatbots using their own prompts or suggested templates for various purposes like caption creation, post formatting, and meme generation.
These AI chatbots can be used personally or shared with others and work across Meta's platforms, including Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and the web. Creators can also build chatbot versions of themselves for fan engagement, with control over topics, links, and auto-replies.
Meta sees AI Studio as a tool for creators to extend their reach and engagement, allowing AI to quickly answer common questions and share information about the creators. Mark Zuckerberg believes these AI avatars can help creators achieve business objectives and enhance community outreach.
Google announced updates to the Play Store to enhance user engagement, aiming to make it more than just a marketplace. Key features include AI-generated review summaries, auto-generated FAQs, and highlights for apps, as well as shared spaces for curated content like cricket and manga. Additionally, the updates will improve app discovery and personalization with enriched game details, YouTube videos, and custom categories based on user history.
