OpenAI's GPT-4o was evaluated to have a "medium" risk level, primarily due to its potential for persuasive writing, despite most risks being categorized as low.
The model underwent evaluations by external red teamers and internal teams to identify risks, including cybersecurity, biological threats, and model autonomy, with special attention to persuasion.
Ongoing Safety Concerns: The release of the GPT-4o System Card comes amidst growing scrutiny of OpenAI's safety practices, including regulatory pressures and public criticism, highlighting the need for transparency and robust safety evaluations.
OpenAI is developing a text watermarking method to detect writing generated by ChatGPT, but the tool is still under consideration due to potential risks, including susceptibility to circumvention and potential negative impacts on non-English speakers.
While the watermarking method has shown promise in detecting AI-generated content, it is vulnerable to tampering, and OpenAI is carefully weighing the complexities before deciding whether to release it.
New Document Tool: Zoom introduces a document tool within its video calling app, allowing users to create and share files with AI-assisted writing and editing features, positioning it as a competitor to Google Docs and Microsoft Office.
AI Integration: The tool leverages Zoom's AI Companion, built on models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta, to automate tasks like organizing meeting transcripts into templates and creating checklists, enhancing productivity.
Competitive Strategy: Zoom offers its AI features at no extra cost within its Workplace plans, aiming to attract businesses in a crowded market dominated by Google and Microsoft by providing cost-effective AI solutions.
YouTube is testing a new AI-powered tool called "Brainstorm with Gemini" that helps creators brainstorm video ideas, titles, and thumbnails, providing a competitive edge over other video platforms.
The feature is currently available to a select group of creators as part of a small experiment, with YouTube planning to consider creator feedback before potentially rolling it out more broadly.
AI Integration Strategy: This initiative aligns with Google's broader strategy to incorporate its AI technology into YouTube, encouraging creators to use Google’s AI tools over alternatives like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, while also testing creators' preferences between existing and new AI tools.

Chrome is getting three new AI features to enhance your browsing experience. You can now use Google Lens on your desktop to search for images and text without leaving your current tab. The Tab Compare feature allows you to compare products from multiple tabs in a single, AI-generated overview. Additionally, Chrome's improved history search lets you find previously visited sites more easily using natural language queries. These features are rolling out in the U.S. over the next few weeks and aim to make your browsing faster, safer, and more helpful.
