😮 The Anthropic Economic Index

AI is transforming the workforce, and the Anthropic Economic Index aims to track its impact over time. The first report, based on millions of anonymized Claude.ai conversations, offers insights into AI’s role in modern jobs.
Key Findings:
AI is most used in software development and technical writing. About 36% of occupations use AI for at least 25% of tasks, but only 4% rely on AI for 75% of tasks.
AI is used more for augmentation (57%)—assisting workers—than for automation (43%), where AI replaces tasks.
Mid-to-high wage jobs, like programmers and data scientists, use AI the most, while both low- and high-wage jobs show lower adoption.
AI use is highest in Computer & Mathematical (37.2%), followed by Arts & Media (10.3%) and Education & Library (9.3%).
Future Research:
The Index will continue tracking AI’s influence, updating datasets to monitor how jobs evolve and whether AI leads to more augmentation or automation.

🔹OpenAI is reportedly getting closer to launching
its in-house chip

OpenAI is on track to complete its in-house AI chip design this year and begin production in 2026, per Reuters. The chip, fabricated by TSMC using 3-nanometer technology, will feature high-bandwidth memory and advanced networking. Initially, it will launch on a limited scale, primarily for running AI models.
This move reduces OpenAI's reliance on Nvidia chips and follows reports of collaboration with Broadcom. The AI chip team, led by ex-Google TPU engineer Richard Ho, has doubled in size.
