šŸ˜® Microsoft brings a DeepSeek model to its cloud

Microsoft has added DeepSeekā€™s AI model, R1, to its Azure AI Foundry, despite concerns that DeepSeek may have stolen OpenAIā€™s IP. Microsoft, OpenAIā€™s biggest backer, reportedly investigated DeepSeek for potential data exfiltration but still embraced R1 due to its industry buzz. Questions remain about R1ā€™s accuracy and censorship, as tests show it often provides misleading or censored responses, especially on China-related topics. Check it out here.

šŸ˜®ChatGPTā€™s mobile users are 85% male, report says

AI app spending skyrocketed to $1.42 billion in 2024, marking a 274% increase from the previous year. OpenAIā€™s ChatGPT remains the dominant player, consistently earning more than all other AI assistant apps combined. With 353 million downloads, its user base skews youngā€”over half are under 25, many using it for schoolwork. However, ages 50-64 make up the second-largest demographic (20.2%).

A significant gender gap exists, with men comprising 84.5% of users. Women remain more skeptical of AI, with concerns over job automation and deepfake risks. Meanwhile, DeepSeek has overtaken ChatGPT as the top app on the App Store, posing a new challenge to OpenAIā€™s dominance.

šŸ¤–OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Gov for US Government Agencies

(Image: OpenAI)

OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Gov, a tailored version of ChatGPT designed for U.S. government agencies, enabling secure access to GPT-4o through Microsoft Azureā€™s commercial and government clouds. The tool offers advanced AI capabilities, including custom GPTs, administrative controls, and text/image file handling, while ensuring compliance with stringent cybersecurity frameworks (IL5, CJIS, ITAR, FedRAMP High).

Since 2024, 3,500+ agencies with 90,000+ users have used ChatGPT for tasks like scientific research (Los Alamos National Lab), coding and AI education (Air Force Research Lab), and translation services (State of Minnesota).

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvaniaā€™s AI pilot program found that ChatGPT saved employees 105 minutes per day on routine tasks. OpenAI aims to further integrate AI into government operations while working toward FedRAMP accreditations and potential expansion to classified regions.

šŸ˜®How Will AI Impact the Global Workforce?

OpenAI's upcoming tool, Operator, may soon be released as an early research preview for users on the $200 Pro subscription plan.

References in ChatGPT's code and OpenAI's website indicate that Operator will allow Pro users to automate multi-step web browser tasks, like managing LinkedIn, Concur, Asana, or Salesforce, through instructions.

Unlike Anthropic's AI, which controls local computers, Operator operates within a web browser on OpenAI's servers. Reports suggest its launch could happen this week, signaling progress in OpenAI's agentic framework.
